Squat Snatch
  • Does anyone do this on a regular basis?
    I know we do lots of cleans and squat cleans etc.

    This is a super technical movement and I love it. 


  • It's not part of the general programming due to the complex natural of the movement. We found too many people struggling with shoulder mobility/stability and thoracic extension requirements. So, we break it down to component movements - snatch balance, power snatch, OHS etc. Sometimes it will pop into the program and we will scale for those who don't have it yet.

    When we have dedicated O lift classes, it will feature extensively.

    It's a move you can practice in open gym if you feel you need it.

  • Ahhh ok got it. Makes total sense after seeing some of the Squat Snatches out there. 

    Ok cool, will give it a go in open on a Saturday. 

    Do you think it would ever be thrown in a comp somewhere or would they more so go for OHS and Squat clean etc?
  • Yeah, you'll see it in comps.
    You'll also see most competitors have horrendous form.
